The surveillance society really has got a hold on us, the public, to the extent that if the report is true (and with the Telegraph one does nowadays, unfortunately, have to take anything they say with the proverbial 'pinch of salt), we are even watched whilst we eat!

Waddesdon Manor, built in 1874 by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild and today owned by the National Trust, is a jewel in the NT crown - a restaurant that offers fine dining and some of the best Rothschild wines, amid the splendour of a stately home.

Following a meal there, a diner was compelled to complain about the standard of the food provided and received a response from the catering manager, one Simon Offen, which stated that he had "watched and listened with interest to the video recording of their table".

And the government wonder why there is so much opposition to the idea of cctv cameras?

It would seem to me that the case for usage of cctv has been made 'once too offen'!!!
