Peter Kellner, writing in today's Telegraph, has a quote which is applicable to just about every ill that Britain is presently suffering, whether this be the ramifications of our country's membership of the European Union, MP's despicable actions in 'raiding the public purse', local democracy or law & order - to name but a few.
In addition to the examples quoted above needs to be added the idea that some half-baked scheme, being introduced by those who have abused the public's trust in them, should be allowed by us, the people.
It is worth remembering the quote, repeated by Peter Kellner, of John Bright a reformist Liberal MP, in 1865:
"I ask you, [men of Birmingham], why should you be thus treated in your own land?"
